The 2011 Business Person of the Year Award is given to the Black Chamber of Commerce small business member who has demonstrated strong business leadership while showing involvement in African American and other minority communities.

ENAE JACKSON-ATKINS, INDEPENDENT BUSINESS CONSULTANT

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Independent Business Consultant Enae Jackson-Atkins started her career as a Financial Accountant and Controller for a large cooperation in September 1989. After working in the financial industry for more than 10 years, and while still working her full-time job, Enae started her own business-consulting firm in May 2000. Enae became an Independent Consultant with one of the largest direct sells company in the United States in February 2006, also while still working her full time career as a Corporate Controller for a large healthcare corporation. She is married to a supportive husband, Allen, and has three sons, Ferdell 23, Davion & Allen 18, and one daughter, Jasmine 19. Enae has a degree in Accounting & Finance and is an ordained minister.

As youth pastor of For His Glory Ministries, Inc., Enae joined forces with local ministers to pioneer and co-found two inter-state community resource organizations. The first, The New cK, or The New Covenant Keepers’, with its members ranging in age from 2 to 28, is an organization focused on the new generation of youth and young adult and the enhancement of a “Christ-like” relationship which promotes keeping the promise of the covenant of faith. Also, H.O.O.D. Inc, or Harvesting Our Own Destiny, which is dedicated to the recovering and rebuilding of individuals that had been deterred by “street life”, ie, gangs, drugs, etc. Both organizations are based in Texas. Additionally, Enae is founder and C.E.O. of C.O.P.S, Inc., The Coalition Of Purpose-driven Sisters, a women’s non-profit organization solely dedicated to mentoring women, and enriching women’s lives, for the growth and restoration of life and economy, through business and life coaching. C.O.P.S., Inc is a California corporation.

In June 2009, just 3 years after starting her own direct sells business, Enae debuted as an Independent Sales Director, which represents the top 2% of her direct sells company. Exemplifying extraordinary business strategy and planning, Enae earned the use of a brand new career car, compliments of one of the largest direct sells companies in the United States. Enae continues to mentor more than 100 businesswomen, as well as students, parents, and people from all walks of life. For her mentoring and caring qualities, Enae has been inducted into the “Honors Society” at her company, an honor bestowed to those that represent quality leadership and caring mentoring.

Keeping her dream in front of her at all times, Enae’s driven with a passion to lead and build others.

One of Enae’s favorite quotes is, “Success needs no explanation, and failure can’t be explained”, therefore, winners make commitments and losers make excuses”. “Because we can do all things…”!
